Lute, chess, calligraphy and painting are the four arts that traditional Chinese adore; guqin is one of them, referring to lute. Guqin is ancient musical instrument of China and is included in the list of UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity. As one of the four important arts, Guqin embodies the essence of traditional Chinese culture.
The exhibition is composed of three parts. Part One is planned chronologically, showing guqin’s features in different dynasties (Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing), and demonstrating guqin’s developing history.
Part Two focuses on the cultural, historical and artistic value of guqin, researching the inscriptions on guqin and displaying their structures, shapes and craftsmanship.
Part Three introduces how to appreciate guqin, strengthening the understanding of excellent Chinese culture and art, learning more about Chinese scholars’ mind, and revealing the social value of qugin.
