Chaozhou woodcarving is a famous genre in Chinese folk woodcarving. It is particularly prevalent in east Guangdong areas historically under the jurisdiction of Chaozhou Prefecture, including Chaozhou, Chaoan, Raoping, Puning, Shantou, Chenghai, Chaoyang, Jieyang, Jiexi and Huilai—hence its name.

Chaozhou woodcarving enjoys a long history with distinctive local features—rich and subtle details, delicate and elaborate designs, exquisite craftsmanship and vivid shapes. The spectacular utensils of various shapes, emblazonry featuring folk customs, exquisite carving skills and incredible gold lacquer techniques all demonstrate the local customs, fashion and spirit, and display its unique charm and elegance to visitors.
