
On August 1st, 1941, the First American Volunteer Group was founded, recruited by the Chinese government under the American presidential approval. They participated in the war against Japanese forces in the CBI Theater. One year later, American Air Task Force and the 14th American Air Fleet were stationed inChina.
The three air forces were all commanded by an American, Claire Lee Chennault, and they were honored as “Flying Tigers” for their bravery, tactical victories, and the emblem image of “flying tigers”. Their combats over its four-year-history were an important part of both Chinese anti-Japanese war and the world anti-fascist war. Chinese people will cherish and commemorate their indelible contribution to the victory of anti-Japanese war and the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers.
